Don’t forget, next meeting of the EARTH group is April 1, 2008. This will be an important meeting to finalize plans for Earth week coming up!
Don’t forget, next meeting of the EARTH group is April 1, 2008. This will be an important meeting to finalize plans for Earth week coming up!
The next meeting of the EARTH group will be February 5, 2008 in the student life center.
Don’t forget, we need volunteers to serve on a coordinating committee for EARTH Week activities in April. It’s great opportunity to be involved in sustainability on campus and great ideas are needed for events during that week. If you want to get involved, contact Marty Jones at mbjones@adams.edu

I hope everyone had a great Christmas break! There are some things coming up I need to let you know about.
First of all, our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 16 at noon in the Student Life Center of the SUB. If you haven’t attended a meeting before, you are very welcome to join us and add your ideas. At the first meeting, we’ll be discussing plans for the spring semester, including Earth Day (EARTH week) activities.
Next, I got this email a few days ago about an upcoming event that we will be involved with.
Adams State will participate in a nation-wide teach-in about global warming on January 31, 2008 in Carson Auditorium. The events will kick off on the evening of January 30, with a webcast titled “The 2% Solution.” The following day will involve discussions led by scholars, government officials and community activists. Focus the Nation.
It looks like the agenda is being finalized so I will let you know more details as soon as I find out.
We are looking forward to a great new semester with activities planned and continuing on with our sustainability initiatives!

EARTH — Environmental Action for Resources, Transportation, and Health - is Adams State’s new organization focused on sustainability efforts. Dr. Marty Jones, professor of chemistry, initiated the group, which involves faculty, staff, and students. EARTH is behind the new “Sustainability Tips” posted weekly on the Portal. The group is also planning a campus activity for America Recycles Day, November 15.
EARTH consists of several subcommittees dealing with Communication/Publicity/Education, Composting/Food, Energy, Recycling, Transportation, and Water. Anyone on campus is welcome to participate on EARTH. If interested, please email Dr. Marty Jones.
